Happy Indie Author Month!
As the month of April comes to an end, I really want to make my first blog post on this website all about the importnace of indie authors.
Speaking as an indie author myself, the struggles are tough. From writing your own book, to getting useful feedback on it, to the editing and design stages, and not to mention the marketing, it’s a big job! Way bigger than I ever anticipated when I started to draft my first novel all those years ago.
With all of that in mind, I think it’s important that as readers we take time to admire the work of indie authors. To help me do this, I’ve made a point to set aside some time in my week to read indie books. At the moment this is in the form of a beta read, which I am enjoying so far, but also have a couple of ARCs lined up for afterwards. If you’re someone who maybe doesn’t want to spend too much money, then this is a really easy and helpful way that you can support indie authors, too. There are always authors looking for reliable and helpful alpha, beta and ARC readers on social media. That’s where I found mine and as an author is where I send out requests looking for them myself.
The final part of this post is really something that you can help with. What indie books have you read that you’ve really enjoyed? Are there any indie books that are coming out soon that you’re looking forward to? If so, please get in touch to let me know. I’m always on the look-out for recommendations!
Enjoy what is left of Indie Author month and do what you can to support indie authors all year round!
